Get involved

There are many ways to get involved and help out with the link.

Sign up as a student

Many of our past students have looked back on their time with the Link as a life changing experience. Becoming involved is a commitment to learn about life in a very different culture, to help with fundraising and the visit of the Tanzanians to the UK, the chance to host a Tanzanian student and the chance to be part of the group for the next visit to Rungwe.

Get involved as a helper, committee member or leader:

The Link is administered by a small committee which welcomes new members. However, you don’t have to join the committee to become actively involved in helping to fundraise and spread the word. Becoming a leader is a significant commitment but is extremely rewarding. Leaders work with the students on fundraising, organising and preparing for the visit of our Tanzanian friends and organising and preparing our students for the visit to Tanzania.

Our partner group in Tanzania is the Rungwe Cumbria Community Link (RCCL). Together with our RCCL partners we can assist self-financing volunteers in finding suitable placements and provide advice on travel and accommodation. Once in Rungwe members of the RCCL can provide on the spot assistance if needed.

Educational Sponsorship:

If you are interested in sponsoring a Tanzanian Student please contact us at the above address for details about how you can do this. Costs vary from £70 to £450 per year dependent on the school, whether the student is boarding or not and current exchange rates.

All donations are gratefully received. If you are a UK tax payer you can increase the value of your gift by signing our Gift Aid declaration
